After her breakthrough in 2020 with ‘Groter Dan Ik’, a protest song about the climate crisis, Froukje’s star is rising. She is now considered to be one of the most popular and beloved Dutch artists, having already won multiple awards, including two Edisons, 3FM Awards and Song of the Year by 3voor12 channel, twice.

Over the last three years the Dutch pop sensation has played on every big festival stage and sold-out clubs in The Netherlands and Belgium. With her vulnerable, catchy songs about human emotions and social issues she won the hearts of many fans. She has performed on the main stages of internationally acclaimed festivals, such as Lowlands, Rock Werchter, Down the Rabbit Hole and Pukkelpop.

Froukje is launching her first and highly anticipated album ‘Noodzakelijk Verdriet’ on the 12th of January, with all the accompanying imagery made by David van Dartel. Having worked together before, Froukje and David van Dartel traveled by boat back to her birthplace, Nieuwkoop, and sailed around the places of her youth. The photographs depict the typical Dutch landscape: waters, the reeds and endless fields.

The exhibition will be on view from 17th January to 3rd February 2024 at Elliott Gallery. David van Dartel will be present on the 20th and 27th January (13.00-18.00), to meet with visitors and talk about his new body of work.

Explore the exhibition at our Gallery, website and on Artsy. All the photographs are available to purchase as Fine Art prints, signed and authenticated by David van Dartel.
